Ben Cook
Ben Cook has been the Director of Tennis at Daniel Island Club since September of 2008, after serving as Director of Tennis at Woodside Plantation Country Club in Aiken, SC from 1998-2008. Ben is a lifelong South Carolinian, having grown up in Kershaw, SC with four years of boarding school at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After an outstanding junior tennis career in the Palmetto State and graduating from Baylor, Ben signed to play tennis at the University of South Carolina, where he helped the Gamecocks to two NCAA appearances and was the team MVP his senior year. After college, he has won various state, sectional, and national tennis titles, most recently winning the USTA Mixed Doubles 40s Championships in October of 2019.
As a tennis player, Ben was well known for his all-around game, with outstanding volleys and service returns. In recent years, Ben has been playing the historical game of Court Tennis, where he has won three national titles and represented the United States Bathurst Cup team twice in international competition in England and Tasmania.
In the spring of 2024, his hometown of Kershaw, SC honored him by naming their new tennis facility the Ben Cook Tennis Center. In the fall of 2024, he is being inducted into the Baylor School Sports Hall of Fame in Chattanooga, Tennessee, joining past and present athletes from the NFL, PGA, MLB, and ATP.
In his free time, Ben enjoys following his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks, the New York Yankees, and also being an avid golfer. He and his wife Amy have one son, Conor age 9. He became a Board member in 2024.
